Using Hockey Bones, Game 1 of this replay between Buffalo and Philadelphia easily went to the home Flyers 4-1, thanks to a 3rd line center, a backup goalie, and two goals by the D.
After Danny Gare put Buffalo up 1-0 just 8:36 into the game, Bernie Parent would take a shot to the knee and would have to leave the game.
Backup goalie Wayne Stephenson came in, and shut down the Sabres for nearly 49 minutes, stopping all 18 shots.
Just barely a minute after Parent left the game, defenseman Joe Watson scored on a long shot from the point to tie the game at 1-1.
Two and a half minutes later, Orest Kindrachuk would score the game winning goal, shorthanded (my first SH Hockey Bones goal) with the assist going to Ed Van Impe.
In the 2nd, it was 3rd line center Kindrachuk scoring again and it was 3-1 Flyers. With 5:01 left in the 2nd, another defenseman scored, as Moose Dupont took a pass from MacLeish and beat Desjardins. That's how the game would end, 4-1 Flyers.
Buffalo had just 3 shots in the 2nd period, and 24 total with only 6 being in range.
Philadelphia had 18 shots in the 1st period, and 43 in total with 10 being in range.
Each team was 0-3 on the PP. Stephenson is expected to get the start in game 2, and Kindrachuk is expected to move up to the 2nd line for the Flyers. Buffalo announced their starting goalie for game 2 will be Roger Crozier.
